Kitui gubernatorial aspirant Nicholas Mulila has pledged to work closely with young people and make their participation a key pillar of his administration if elected governor.

Speaking on Sunday, September 13, when he met kitui youth  based in Nairobi at the National Youth Centre, Mulila assured the young people that his government would prioritize their inclusion in leadership, economic empowerment and access to opportunities.

Mulila promised to strengthen Information and Communication Technology (ICT) by establishing ICT centres across the county. He said the centres would provide young people with spaces to develop digital skills, create online jobs and access employment opportunities in the growing digital economy.

The gubernatorial aspirant also vowed to tackle what he described as cartels and misuse of public resources, promising to ensure that taxpayers' money is used for the benefit of Kitui residents.

He further pledged to promote equitable development across all constituencies, saying every part of Kitui County would receive fair consideration in the allocation of development resources.

On unity and leadership, Mulila promised to work with leaders elected by the people regardless of their political affiliation, while opposing tribalism and ethnic discrimination in the management of county affairs.
He also challenged young people to take an active role in shaping the county's future by registering as voters and participating in elections. He urged the youth to use their votes to elect leaders they believe will genuinely serve their interests.

Mulila said the youth should not only be viewed as beneficiaries of government programmes but should also be active participants in decision-making and the development of Kitui County.
Ends.
