The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has today led by Ps Internal Security Dr. Raymond Omolo launched a rapid reference guide aimed at strengthening the country's response to offences committed under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018 (CAP. 79C).

The guide is expected to provide law enforcement officers, investigators and other stakeholders with practical information to identify, understand and respond effectively to the growing threat of cybercrime in Kenya.

The launch comes at a time when cyber-related offences, including online fraud, identity theft, cyber harassment, data breaches and other digital crimes, continue to pose significant challenges to individuals, institutions and national security.

The reference guide seeks to simplify access to provisions of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act and enhance the capacity of relevant agencies in investigating and prosecuting offences committed in the digital space.

Speaking during launch the PS Ministry of Interior and National Administration Dr. Raymond Omolo said that security threats are no longer limited to physical spaces, streets or national borders, but have increasingly shifted into the digital sphere.

“The threats to our security are no longer confined to the streets within our borders or the physical institutions that we represent. Increasingly, they now extend into the digital space.”he said

The guide is expected to play a key role in improving coordination among security agencies and other stakeholders involved in the prevention, detection and prosecution of cybercrime.

As Kenya continues to embrace digital transformation and expand access to online services, authorities have increasingly emphasized the need for stronger legal frameworks, public awareness and institutional capacity to protect citizens and critical digital infrastructure from emerging cyber threats.

The launch marks another step in Kenya's efforts to build a safer and more secure digital environment amid the rapidly changing landscape of technology and cybercrime.

Ends.
