Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, EGH, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, conducted an inspection tour of the Talanta Sports Complex to assess the progress of the ongoing construction works.
The inspection formed part of the government's efforts to monitor the implementation of major sports infrastructure projects and ensure that works are progressing in line with the set plans and required standards.
During the visit, Mvurya assessed the status of the ongoing works and received updates on the progress of the project from officials involved in its implementation.
The Cabinet Secretary's visit comes as the government continues to prioritise investment in sports infrastructure, with the aim of providing modern facilities for athletes, sports federations and other stakeholders in the sporting sector.
The Talanta Sports Complex is expected to play an important role in strengthening Kenya's sports infrastructure and enhancing the country's ability to host major local and international sporting events.
The facility is also expected to support talent development by providing athletes with improved spaces for training and competition while creating opportunities for young people seeking careers in sports and the wider creative economy.
Mvurya's inspection provided an opportunity to evaluate the pace of the works and identify areas requiring attention to ensure the project remains on course.
The government has continued to emphasise the importance of developing modern sporting facilities as part of efforts to nurture Kenya's sporting talent and position the country as a leading sports destination on the continent.
Following the inspection, attention is expected to remain focused on the continued progress of construction and the eventual completion and operationalisation of the Talanta Sports Complex
