OL KALOU, Kenya – Sammy Douglas Kamau has been declared the Member of Parliament-elect for Ol Kalou Constituency following the successful conclusion of the by-election, marking a significant political milestone for the constituency.

The announcement was made by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after the completion of vote tallying from all polling stations across the constituency. Kamau emerged victorious after securing the highest number of votes, defeating his closest rivals in a closely watched contest that attracted considerable political interest.

Celebrations broke out among Kamau's supporters shortly after the official declaration, with residents gathering in various parts of Ol Kalou town to celebrate the outcome. Supporters waved party flags, sang victory songs, and expressed optimism that the new MP-elect would champion development and effectively represent the interests of the constituency in the National Assembly.

In his victory speech, Kamau thanked the people of Ol Kalou for entrusting him with the leadership mandate. He described the victory as one that belongs to every resident of the constituency, regardless of political affiliation, and pledged to serve all constituents fairly and without discrimination.

"I am deeply humbled by the confidence the people of Ol Kalou have placed in me. This victory is not mine alone but belongs to every resident who believes in a better future for our constituency. My focus now shifts from campaigning to delivering on the promises we made during the election period," he said.

Kamau further pledged to prioritize key sectors, including infrastructure development, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, agriculture, and job creation. He emphasized the importance of unity, calling on residents to put the election behind them and work together toward the constituency's development.

The by-election was conducted under heightened security, with police officers deployed across the constituency to ensure peace and order throughout the voting and tallying process. Voting was generally peaceful, with electoral officials commending voters for maintaining calm and exercising their democratic rights responsibly.

Political observers noted that the Ol Kalou by-election was one of the most closely monitored contests in recent months, attracting attention from political parties and leaders across the country due to its potential influence on the evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.

With the declaration, Kamau now awaits gazettement by the IEBC before being sworn in as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency. Once sworn in, he will officially assume office and begin representing the residents in Parliament.

Residents have expressed high expectations for the incoming legislator, urging him to fulfill his campaign promises and address long-standing development challenges affecting the constituency. Many hope his leadership will accelerate economic growth, improve public services, and create opportunities for young people.

The by-election outcome now ushers in a new chapter for Ol Kalou Constituency as residents look forward to a period of renewed leadership focused on development, accountability, and inclusive representation.

Ends.
