Fresh from the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, leaders affiliated with the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) are set to hold a constituency-wide thanksgiving tour today on Friday, July 17, 2026, to appreciate residents for their support during the polls.

According to the reports released by the party, the tour will be led by DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua, Nyandarua Senator John Methu, Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, and Ol Kalou constituency MP-elect Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru.

The leaders are expected to make several stopovers across the constituency, where they will interact with residents and express gratitude for the overwhelming support that secured Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru's victory in the recently concluded by-election.

The  tour will begin at Ndundori Gwa Kiongo at 11:00 a.m. before proceeding to Ngorika at 12:00 noon. The delegation will then head to Tumaini at 1:00 p.m., followed by Ol Kalou Town at 2:00 p.m., before concluding the day's engagements in Miharati Town at 3:00 p.m.

The event is expected to attract hundreds of residents, party supporters, and local leaders from across Nyandarua County, as celebrations continue following the by-election outcome that saw Sammy Douglas Kamau declared the Member of Parliament-elect for Ol Kalou Constituency.

The  tour comes just days after the constituency concluded a closely watched by-election that drew national political attention, with leaders from different political formations campaigning vigorously for their respective candidates.

For DCP, the thanksgiving tour marks the beginning of what party leaders have described as renewed engagement with grassroots supporters. The leaders are expected to thank voters for turning out in large numbers and reaffirm their commitment to addressing the development needs of the constituency.

Political observers are also likely to view the tour as an opportunity for the party to consolidate its support base in Nyandarua County ahead of future political activities, while reinforcing the unity of its leadership following the electoral victory.

Residents attending the various stopovers are expected to hear addresses from the visiting leaders focusing on development, service delivery, and the importance of maintaining peace and unity after the completion of the electoral process.

The appearance of Rigathi Gachagua alongside Senator Methu, MP Wanjiku Muhia, and MP-elect Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru is also expected to underline the party's continued presence in the Mt. Kenya region, where it has been seeking to strengthen its political influence.

Organisers have encouraged supporters and residents from across the constituency to attend the events at the designated venues and join the leaders in celebrating the by-election victory.

Friday's thank-you tour is expected to provide the new MP-elect with his first major public engagement with constituents since being declared the winner, offering him an opportunity to express his appreciation directly to the people of Ol Kalou while outlining his commitment to fulfilling the promises made during the campaign period.

Ends.
